About Tomahawk Kennels
What they offer
Tomahawk Kennels in Athens breeds and trains Boykin spaniels, and its Training page describes a program developed specifically for the breed. The training season runs March through October in three stages: Basic Foundation, Transition and Advanced. The basic program is for pups roughly six to twelve months old and starts with a week of socialization before formal on-leash obedience (sit, here, heel and place), collar conditioning, retrieves and command fetch, with the aim of a dog that is obedient and retrieves on land and water. Intermediate and advanced training moves toward an advanced hunting companion or a competitive career, after an evaluation.
Good to know
The home page names Jonathan Holland as owner and trainer and lists national titles won by the kennel's dogs; the About page says he established the kennel and began training professionally in 2018. Dogs stay at the kennel during training, and the Training page lists the health records needed before drop-off.
