About Top Gun Dog Training

What they offer

Top Gun Dog Training offers in-home puppy and dog obedience training, and its home page lists one-on-one private sessions, in-home puppy training programs, and advanced group training and socialization. It serves Huntsville, Madison, Harvest, Athens, Hampton Cove and Owens Cross Roads, and says the trainer travels to you, with socialization field trips at a location near your home. The specialty programs go beyond basic training with AKC Canine Good Citizen work and multi-dog programs; the site's menu also lists a leash reactivity program.

Approach

The About page says the trainer specializes in puppies, starting at 10 weeks old, and in transforming behavior with positive reinforcement and minimal corrections, following the LIMA (least intrusive, minimally aversive) approach. The services page says you start with a free phone consultation, then choose a program.

Background

The About page names Dale Buchanan as founder, lists a CDTK and a Certificate in Dog Training and Behavior from Catch Canine Trainers Academy and membership of the APDT, and lists continuing-education seminars. It also lists awards, including Best Dog Trainer in Huntsville from The Quality Business Awards, and a puppy podcast the trainer hosts.
