About Doggy Decorum, LLC

Doggy Decorum is a one-trainer, in-home practice in Virginia Beach. The about page introduces her directly: "Welcome to Doggy Decorum! I'm Andrea, the owner and head trainer. My journey with dogs started in 2007, and it has been the most rewarding career I could have imagined."

What is offered

The services are set out as five short lines, each doing a different job. Puppy work is "Start your puppy off right with foundational training and socialization skills." General training is "Master obedience commands and manners for puppies and adult dogs alike." The behavior lane is specific about what it takes on – "Address anxiety, aggression, reactivity, and other challenging behaviors." There is a nutrition strand, "Optimize your dog's health with personalized nutrition guidance", and a fifth line covering "Day Training and Therapy Dog preparation for unique needs and goals."

Where and how

Sessions happen at your house by design, listed among the reasons to choose the business: "In-home sessions for real-world learning", alongside "Nutrition guidance included in all programs" and "Ongoing support between sessions". The service area is given as Virginia Beach and surrounding areas, with Norfolk, Chesapeake and Hampton Roads named in the footer.

The method

The philosophy statement is unambiguous and, usefully, is phrased as a refusal: "We use rewards and encouragement – never punishment, fear, or intimidation." The wider framing is holistic – "I take a wholistic approach that considers not just behavior, but also nutrition, environment, and the emotional bond between you and your dog" – and grounded in learning theory: "Our methods are grounded in animal behavior science and learning theory." The whole household is expected to take part: "We train the whole family, because consistency is key to lasting success."

Cost of entry

One number is published, which is rare here: the site advertises a $150 introductory session as the starting point. No certification from a national body is claimed.
