Planet Pooch
Overview
About Planet Pooch
Planet Pooch is a Franklin Square pet resort on Hempstead Turnpike that grew out of a single mobile grooming van. Training is one of five published services, and it is the one an owner should ask about specifically: the site says it is 'results-driven training led by our AKC Evaluator Trainer'.
Where the business came from
The site dates the company to 2014 and names its founder, Andy Gonzaga, who started at seventeen working as a licensed professional groomer alongside his mother Kathy and graduated from the New York School of Dog Grooming in 2010. What began as mobile grooming across Franklin Square, Garden City and the surrounding Nassau neighborhoods became a full-service resort offering grooming, daycare, boarding and training.
Enrichment as a separate track
Alongside the training line the site publishes an Enrichment service, and its contents are closer to training than to play: sensory play, scent work, agility and gentle one-on-one challenges. For an owner whose dog needs mental work rather than obedience drilling, that is the relevant page.
What the facility is like
A facility tour video is published so owners can see the layout and care spaces before visiting, and the site keeps grooming, daycare, boarding and training under one roof at the Hempstead Turnpike address. It publishes a 4.9 rating from more than 720 Google reviews.
Who it’s best for
Best for a Franklin Square or Garden City owner who wants training folded into the same place the dog is already groomed or boarded, and who is interested in scent work and agility as enrichment.
