About The Perfect Pup

The Perfect Pup is a family-owned and operated training business based in Massapequa, and it runs two program shapes: in-home training and what it calls stay-away training, its term for a residency. It publishes fifteen-plus years of dog training background.

The two things it promises in writing

Two commitments sit at the top of every page. Every customer gets a free evaluation, framed as a two-way interview – a chance for the owner to learn the programs and for the trainers to meet the dogs – before any program is chosen. And the site publishes a lifetime training guarantee.

No breed exclusions

The site states in capitals, twice, that it does not discriminate against any dog breeds, and repeats that it caters to dogs of all breeds, sizes and ages. In a metro where insurance-driven breed restrictions are common at boarding facilities, that is a deliberate published position rather than filler.

How the in-home program runs

The site is clear that the owner works too: 'you will be working one on one with our trainers in order to train your pups' and 'yes that means you will be on leash with your pups helping them succeed'. Programs are described as custom to each dog, and the argument for training at home is that both dog and owner stay in the environment where the behavior actually happens.

Access

Published hours are wide – Monday to Saturday 8am to 9pm and Sunday 8am to 5pm – and the site says appointments are scheduled around the client's calendar, weekends included. Its published service area is Long Island, Manhattan and Queens, with travel beyond that on request.
