About The Art of Dog
The Art of Dog calls itself Buffalo's highest rated dog training, and with 5.0 from 136 Google reviews it has the strongest review record of any training business in this metro.
The programs
Five are published. Private Lessons are the entry point. Board and Train is the flagship, with its own options page and an explainer page answering what a board and train actually is. Day Training sends the dog home each night. Boarding is offered separately. And a Shadow Program sits alongside them, aimed at people who want to learn by working with the trainer rather than only handing the dog over. Behavior Modification runs across the programs, and there is a published refund policy, which is rarer than it should be.
Who runs it
Dave founded the school with what he describes as the goal of helping owners get the most out of their relationship with their dogs. He is named directly in almost every client story on the site.
What clients report
The published stories are specific rather than generic. A ten-month-old mini goldendoodle spent two weeks with him in October and passed his therapy dog test, with the examiners noting his ability for his age. A first-time owner sent a rescue with entrenched habits and insecurity around strangers and other dogs to the two-week board and train and came back with a more confident dog. An eleven-month-old pit bull who used to have tantrums on the walk now walks to the corner without incident.
Practicalities
The facility is at 1330 Kenmore Ave, Suite 1, Buffalo. Financing is available through Affirm, and the site carries an apparel shop, a training FAQ and a blog.
