About DWD

What they offer

DWD (Dogs Will Dog LLC) is a dog training business at 122 Zante St in Lochbuie, run by owner and head trainer Taylor Davis. It serves the Denver metro area and surrounding counties. Its board-and-train programs include a Puppy Board and Train for puppies 12 weeks to 6 months, an Off-Leash (E-Collar) Board and Train, and a longer Behavior Modification Board and Train for dog- or human-directed aggression, severe reactivity, fear, anxiety and resource guarding. A Personal Protection Development program is offered for suitable puppies and dogs. One-on-one lesson packages cover obedience, loose-leash walking, recall and off-leash reliability, household manners and problem behaviors, with in-home lessons available.

How they train

The site describes a balanced approach combining "operant conditioning's four quadrants, classical conditioning, and counter conditioning," with priority on positive reinforcement and play and a gradual phase-out of training collars. The e-collar is introduced only when appropriate for the dog. Training happens in a home-based environment, not a large kennel, and moves into neighborhoods, parks and stores. Board-and-train programs include a go-home lesson and in-home follow-up lessons.

Good to know

The site says Taylor is a Tom Rose School graduate with experience training service dogs, police K9s and working dogs. It offers a free in-person evaluation and lists hours of 7 days a week, 6am to 8pm.
