About Mountain Standard Dog Training

House dogs and hunting dogs

Mountain Standard Dog Training in Florence works with high-energy, high-drive dogs, with the motto "helping hunting dogs become better house dogs, and helping house dogs become better hunting dogs." It specializes in reliable house manners and capable gun dogs through purposeful, structured training, on the idea that a dog that lives well at home will work better in the field. It names destructive behavior, inconsistent recall, lack of focus in the field and an energy level with no off-switch as the issues it helps channel into structure and steadiness.

How it works

Training is offered as private lessons, board and train, and group classes. Board and train dogs live in-home rather than in a kennel, and each dog gets an individualized plan with an emphasis on house manners first. The trainer specializes in hunting and versatile working breeds, and programs include owner transfer sessions plus regular photo and video updates.
