About By My Side Dog Camp

Adventure camp and behavior help

By My Side Dog Training and Adventure Camp is a Richmond dog camp and training service. Its founder started the camp in March of 2022 to improve quality of life for dogs and their families, meeting their needs for exercise, mental stimulation and socialization through weekly group adventures in enriching environments.

A wider view of behavior

After working with dogs over the past 12 years, the founder now offers services to families who are struggling with their dog's behavior. By My Side describes obedience as just the tip of the iceberg: environment, health, nutrition, genetics, stress and trauma all play roles in behavior, and dogs are treated as autonomous individuals with rich inner lives. The work aims to strengthen the owner's relationship with the dog, teach a clear communication system for teaching and reinforcing behavior, help owners understand and meet their dog's needs, and teach dogs new ways to cope with stress through relaxation techniques.
