About The Crate Escape

Dog care in the foothills

The Crate Escape is a dog care center in Richmond, situated in the foothills of the Green Mountains on the eastern edge of the Champlain Valley, just off I-89. It offers daycare with group play, a canine enrichment daycare program, day boarding, overnight lodging, grooming and training, and stocks food, treats and toys from independent brands. The business describes 29 years of experience in the pet care industry.

An individual approach

The Crate Escape says its approach to dog care is not one size fits all. Staff try to learn each dog's personality traits and well-being needs and build a care plan around that individual, with a focus on a positive physical and emotional experience in a fun, safe and clean environment. It limits the number of dogs it cares for each day so every dog's needs are attended to. New clients start with an application and a general information packet.

What owners say

One client wrote: "My 9 year old pittie loves crate escape! He comes every week for daycare and is always so happy to be dropped off." Another said of her dog's lodging stays, "She is adored and well cared for and always happy and healthy when we return."

What to ask

Ask what the training service covers, how it fits with daycare or lodging, and about pricing.
