About The Dog Boss LLC

Private training around Venice

The Dog Boss LLC is a dog training business serving Sarasota County, with Venice as its Florida base. Its trainer, Ed, is described as a retired police officer and seasoned police K9 handler with 20 years of experience, whose work ranges from basic manners to off-leash control. The business also fosters dogs and says it has fostered hundreds of dogs and trained hundreds more since 2008.

How it trains

The Dog Boss works one-on-one only and prefers to train in the home, since that is where most behavior problems start. Its stated goal is "to teach the people how to teach the dog." Sessions cover puppy training, family dog training, basic and advanced obedience and behavior modification. The business describes its approach as a mix of communication between handler and dog, positive motivation and suitable correction. Pricing is described as competitive with the big chain pet stores. It also offers bed bug detection with trained dogs.
