Dog Obedience Classes in Gainesville, GA
“Classes” is the word owners search for, but it is not what most of the twelve businesses here sell. Only two of them publish a group-class program. Willow Creek Dog Training in Dawsonville posts class hours on its own site — Tuesday to Thursday 9am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm — and describes “Small, guided group classes from AKC Puppy STAR to Basic and Advanced Obedience” alongside private lessons, an agility class and a wedding-handler service.
Four of the twelve are boarding or daycare businesses where training is a line in a service menu rather than a curriculum. Fido’s World on Skelton Road says only “We believe basic obedience is one of the most important activities to share with your pup” before sending you to its rates page. Happy Dogs Play and Stay and The Pet Resorts, both in Cumming, give training far less space on their sites than boarding, daycare and grooming. Blowing Springs Kennel of Atlanta bills itself “Boarding | Training | Grooming | Breeding” and is the one place here that states in writing that it accepts “unaltered (not spayed/neutered) and semi-aggressive dogs”.
The remaining six teach obedience during a stay. Whispering Oaks runs a live-in program on eleven fenced and cross-fenced acres and publishes a guarantee the others do not: “We unconditionally guarantee that If we do not train your dog, you do not pay for his training.” Ducktown Lodge in Cumming keeps “just 12 private suites, cared for by the same people every day” and folds training into the daily routine. Performing Paws works a private 4.5-acre property in Dawsonville that is “completely private and open strictly by appointment only”. True Guard K9 sells obedience as three-, four- and five-week blocks, Ducktown Dog Training as a two-week stay, and Canine Relations board-trains in a trainer’s own home.
So if what you want is a weekly class you drive to, this is a two-name list, and one of those two holds its classes outside this metro. Everyone else on the page teaches the same material one dog at a time, or teaches it while the dog is boarding.
