Overview
About Arizona Humane Society Pet Training
What they offer
The Arizona Humane Society sells public dog training alongside its shelter work. Its program offers a range of group classes and three kinds of private lessons: in-home lessons where the trainer comes to you, in-facility lessons held at its South Mountain and Sunnyslope campuses, and virtual consultations by Zoom or phone. Cat owners can also book a virtual consultation for problems such as litter box use or hiding.
How lessons work
The first private lesson starts with 15 to 20 minutes on your training priorities and behavior concerns, followed by 40 to 45 minutes of training. The society recommends a two-lesson package the first time. In-home availability depends on your location, and some parts of the Valley carry a travel fee.
Approach
The society says its certified dog trainers use positive reinforcement, force-free, science-based methods with dogs of all ages and breeds. Check the class schedule, since new classes are added often.
