About Belle’s Bark’n Behaviors

Force-free training rooted in behavior analysis

Belle's Bark'n Behaviors is a force-free, positive reinforcement dog training company in New Orleans, started in May 2023 by Sonja Bacuetes. A New Orleans native from Algiers Point, Sonja holds a psychology degree from Loyola University New Orleans and a master's in applied behavior analysis from Ball State University, and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2019. She is also a Family Paws Parent Educator, a Certified Dog Trainer through the Victoria Stilwell Academy, a Fear Free Certified Professional and a Professional Canine Behavior Consultant through the Pet Professional Accreditation Board.

Methods and services

She uses evidence-based behavior change programs and helps families move away from aversive tools such as prong collars and e-collars. Private training takes place in the owner's home with a customized plan. Board & Train is intensive one-on-one training in her home, with follow-up sessions to transfer skills to the owner. Mid-day dog walks are also offered.
