About Blue Dog K9 Training
Engagement-centered training
Blue Dog K9 Training in Missoula puts engagement at the heart of every service, building a common language between dog and owner so behaviors generalize to any location. It uses classical conditioning and all four quadrants of operant conditioning. Head trainer and owner Tim spent over a decade handling professional working dogs in law enforcement, in obedience, protection, detection, article search and tracking. He holds a degree in education, an E-Collar certificate from Paraclete K9, and is a graduate of the Michael Ellis School for Dog Training Obedience Intensive and the NePoPo New Silver School.
Programs
The Basic Obedience Package uses 45-minute sessions with owner participation and homework, covering sit, down, stay, heel, leave it, recall, loose-leash walking, focus with distractions and crate training, plus jumping, mouthing, destructive behavior and reactivity. A 3-week board and train gives three sessions a day with owner transition lessons, and Day Drop and Train offers daytime sessions. Boarding uses a small kennel for four dogs. Advanced work covers off-leash obedience, e-collar, detection and nosework, tracking and article detection.
What owners say
One client wrote that their reactive cattle dog "went from snarling and snapping in warning to allowing him to pet her."
