Training for the real world

Diverse Dog Training serves Missoula, the Bitterroot and surrounding areas, and says it has been educating owners and training dogs locally for 15+ years. Owner and master trainer Cody Sheppard is a born-and-raised Montanan from Stanford who graduated from the National K9 School for Dog Trainers, specializing in the Masters Training Course in 2005, and then worked as a kennel manager at a Missoula veterinary hospital for two years. The business credits him with 20+ years working with dogs.

Programs

Each client gets a custom-fit program, on the view that there is no cookie-cutter formula for all dogs, and the team works as much with owners as with their dogs. Programs cover basic obedience, off-leash reliability, puppy development, reactivity and aggression, separation anxiety, and fearful and shy dogs, plus canine coaching calls and board and train. New clients can schedule a free consultation.

A veterinarian wrote of referring many clients to Cody, "all of which had wonderful things to say about him." Another client wrote that a dog that pulled and jumped now "walks at my side and I can walk her off leash as well," after three lessons.
