About Carolina Canine Advisor

Carolina Canine Advisor is owned and operated by Raechel Longo and is based in Clayton, where she moved from Chicago in 2019 to open the business. The site gives a full account of how she got there: fifteen years working with animals, starting in a dog kennel, then qualifying as a veterinary technician, then managing "one of Chicagoland's largest Pet Resorts which gave her first hand experience with thousands of different dog breeds and temperaments," before apprenticing under other trainers and working through training seminars.

Method

The business's stated position is that method should follow the dog: "Raechel believes that there are many different ways to train dogs. Just like people, no two dogs are alike and each dog learns differently. Which is why each lesson is specifically customized and tailored to meet each client's needs." Its published services cover puppy work, obedience, board-and-train, aggression and service dog training.

Credentials and volunteering

The site lists membership of the International Association of Canine Professionals and status as an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen evaluator – both the business's own claims, since neither body publishes a North Carolina registry this directory can check. She also volunteers as a trainer for Vets to Vets United, a nonprofit that "pairs veterans with disabilities with rescued dogs" and then trains the dog to work as that veteran's service dog. One of her own Boxers is a service dog.
