About KATA*K9 BEST DOG TRAINER CONTEST WINNER 2023

KATA*K9 works from Equine Lane in Clayton and advertises locations across North Carolina. The trainer is Sam Selim, and the business is heavily award-focused: its own pages claim a Sniffspot USA national top-trainer listing for 2023 and 2024, a best-in-Johnston-County placing, and a 2026 top combination-team award from a federal contractor for Sam and his German Shepherd, Sky. Those are the business's own claims.

How the programs are packaged

The business sells tiered packages it calls the Belts, described as the route to "Reliability, Precision, Sustainability, Continuity, Consistency, Enrichment and Longevity – the true essence of the Man-Dog 360 Bond." Alongside them it publishes service dog training, boarding, a stud service and an online store, and it operates a pay-as-you-wish option on some items. The stated entry point is an in-home evaluation meeting, booked online.

The stated approach

The site describes the work as helping dogs "overcome their behavioral issues, through positive reinforcement," and the owner's own account of how he came to it is a family story about his grandfather's two German Shepherds rather than a professional resume.

Who it’s best for

Best for owners around Clayton and Johnston County who want an in-home evaluation first and a packaged program rather than session-by-session billing.
