About Center for Canine Sports
Agility training in Garland
Center for Canine Sports is a dog agility training facility at 300 South Kirby Street in Garland, close to Highway 635 (LBJ). It offers agility classes from puppy and foundation skills through Masters level, and private instruction by appointment. The two-acre outdoor facility is on natural grass, fully lighted, with water, limited crating and restrooms. It is also home base for the DFW Disc Dog Club.
Method
All training is reward based, built on positive reinforcement, and the motto is "We teach you to train your dog!" Instructors have competed in agility venues including USDAA, AKC, UKI, ASCA, NADAC, UKC and CPE, and several students and their dogs have earned championship titles.
Classes
Classes run on an ongoing basis, so teams can join anytime. Wednesday evenings with Brooke Ortale bring Foundations of Agility/Beginners at 6pm, Masters Agility at 7pm and Intermediate Agility at 8pm, and Thursday at 10am Crystal Ragan teaches Skills & Drills for all levels. Foundations suits all breeds and ages, including shy dogs and high-energy dogs; Beginners introduces jumps, tunnels, the A-frame, dogwalk, teeter and weave poles; Masters polishes handling for advanced teams.
