About Central Ohio K9

Central Ohio K9, in Johnstown, OH, is a balanced trainer combining reward-based methods with corrective techniques — notable for service-dog training and dog-sport classes alongside standard obedience.

How they train

They describe themselves as balanced trainers who tailor plans to each owner's lifestyle and goals, working closely with clients rather than running one-size-fits-all programs.

Programs

Private lessons (behavioral issues, service-dog prep, and activity skills like barn hunt and agility foundations), an intensive board-and-train with professional progress assessment, and service-dog training where they train your own dog — psychiatric, medical-alert/response, and mobility — both on-site and in public. They also run dock-diving and barn-hunt classes. Johnstown-Alexandria Rd, Johnstown.

Who it’s best for

Emerson is an expert trainer and dog behavioralist. She turned our 6.5 year old lab/Weimaraner around and really helped us not only to learn the basics to continue working on our pup consistently even after the week long program but also to read our dog’s behavior and what he was feeling and needing from us. She worked very well with our schedule needs and took feedback well when we struggled to reach out to her during her busy schedule. I would say, be patient with her and communicate your expectations from the beginning and she will exceed them, just as she did for us. I would recommend her to anyone looking to get their pup trained.

Emerson is great and very knowledgeable. The program pricing is very reasonable for everything that she offers. I highly recommend her services. My dog is a completely different dog ,in a good way, then what she used to be.

Emerson does a great job. Puppies can be overwhelming. We had no idea where to start. Emerson made it easy to dive right into training. We have seen much progress so far. Also, our puppy loves spending time at her training sessions. Thanks.

Had a really great first experience after recommendations from others I know into dog sports! I have never done barn hunt so this was all new to me. My dog Oliver had sooo much fun, he can be a nervous guy but he loved meeting his new trainer friend that had the fun smelly rats. After just one time of getting some help finding his first rat, my little pom found ALL of them on his own for the whole lesson. The trainer did a great job with Oliver and building his confidence. We are already booked to come back!
