About Chow Hound Pet Supplies Obedience & Training

In-store group classes at a pet supply retailer

Chow Hound Pet Supplies runs obedience classes as one of its store services, described in its own service list as "Dog Training – Positive training for happy, well-behaved dogs." Classes are organized in three levels with published prerequisites.

Beginner

"These beginner classes are perfect for puppies between 8-18 weeks old and covers essential skills such as basic commands (sit, stay, come), socialization with other dogs, proper leash walking, and effective house training techniques." The Puppy/Basic class is "Designed for puppies typically between 8 to 16 weeks of age."

Intermediate

"This level 2 class focuses on essential obedience commands such as sit, stay, come, and leash manners, along with solving common behavior issues like jumping, barking, and pulling. For dogs 18 weeks and older. Must have attended a level 1 beginner class at Chow Hound Pet Supplies." A level 2 Good Citizen class is also listed, focused on "skills required to pass the AKC CGC/CGCA and Tricks test and/or Therapy Dog test."

Advanced

Level 3 classes "focus on specialty skills and advanced commands, off-leash training, enhanced focus, problem-solving techniques, and more. Must have completed a level 2 class or equivalent at Chow Hound Pet Supplies." The published level 3 line-up is Good Citizen, Rally O, Tricks for Titles, Nose Work ("focuses on enhancing your dog's olfactory senses through scent detection exercises") and Therapy Dog.

Before you book

This is the chain's site-wide training page. Ask the local store who instructs, what classes cost and which classes run at the Grand Rapids store; the site's store selector defaults to Ohio addresses. Store-level details must be confirmed with the local shop.
