About Clear Cut Kennels LLC
What they offer
Clear Cut Kennels trains bird dogs in Kingman, in northern Maine, on wild grouse and woodcock in real upland cover rather than controlled setups. Its owner and head trainer has worked with pointing dogs for over 20 years and competes in walking field trials and cover dog trials.
Pointing dog programs
The puppy program introduces pups of roughly two to ten months with no prior bird work to birds and lays the foundation for a pointing dog. The mid-level program is for dogs with some training and hunting experience that need to go further, and the tune-up program gets an experienced dog ready for the hunting season. Seasonal programs run through the year, including winter training at a quail plantation in the South.
Flush dogs
A separate program trains English cocker spaniels for upland hunting: quartering and pattern, obedience and recall, steadiness to flush and shot, retrieving, socialization and conditioning in the field.
Good to know
Dogs train on the kennel's own property and on additional land with natural cover, indoor and outdoor boarding is included at no extra fee, and pickup and drop-off transportation is offered across much of the Northeast. Guided bird hunts are also offered.
