About Cm Academy of Dog Training
Group classes and in-home training
CM Academy of Dog Training, based in Walcott, Iowa, offers group classes and private in-home training under the motto "Building Better Bonds One Dog at a Time." Trainer Jim takes calls about training options and costs. The private in-home option is aimed at hard-to-manage or aggressive dogs, quick-starting puppies, or owners whose schedules don't fit the group times, with the goal of moving every private dog into group classes for the social benefit.
Group classes
Classes run three times a week: Monday evening at the Regional Innovation Center at 5:30, Wednesday evening at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport at 6:00 and Saturday morning at Ridgecrest Village at 8:30. Classes run continuously, so there is no wait to join. Options include a once-a-week six-week course, a twice-a-week six-month course suggested for small dogs and puppies moving through adolescence, and a year of unlimited training. The trainer arrives a half hour early to help newcomers.
Programs
Basic obedience teaches sit, stay, come and heel through positive reinforcement. Behavioral correction addresses barking, chewing, digging or aggression with customized plans using humane methods. Puppy socialization serves puppies from 8 weeks to 6 months.
