About Cognitive K9 Dog Training

Balanced training in Murray

Cognitive K9 Dog Training is run by Dayna Winter-Nolte, a dog trainer serving Murray and the Salt Lake City area who works in owners' homes or wherever a dog needs help. She has worked with dogs for 9 years, starting as a kennel technician, and has trained clients professionally for seven years. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Westminster College and a master's in sports psychology from the University of Utah, competes in PSA protection sport, and placed second overall on the TV show America's Top Dog. She has trained and placed dozens of service dogs.

Approach

Dayna is a balanced trainer who uses positive reinforcement with food and toys along with tools such as e-collars, prong collars and slip leads depending on the dog, starting with leash pressure and rewards and only adding tools the owner is comfortable with.

Packages and prices

The Undergrad package is $500 (three sessions plus six months of group classes), Masters is $800 (five sessions and a year of group classes) and PHD is $1,000 (eight sessions, aggression work, public access skills and lifetime group classes). Board & Train is $2,700 for at least three weeks with four follow-ups. A single Smart Start session is $175 and Puppy Pre-School for puppies 2-5 months is $75 per session.
