Courtney Moyer Dog Training and Behavior Services offers specialized help for fearful and reactive dogs in Northwest Washington, DC. Founder Courtney Moyer came to training after years of fostering for a local DC rescue, left a 10 year career as a social worker to train dogs full time, and spent six years working under a board-certified veterinary behaviorist. She specializes in dogs that bark, lunge, growl, or shut down in public.

The 5-week program

Her 5-week program is built around each dog's needs: Courtney does the training and holds regular coaching sessions so owners know what to do too. Goals include fewer episodes of barking and lunging, a dog who can explore on walks, tools to handle triggers, and a personalized plan for what comes next. It begins with a free 30-minute discovery call, a detailed Canine History form, and an in-home Initial Behavioral Consultation.

Philosophy and credentials

Her training is built on one principle: working without pain, fear, or force. She is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through the IAABC and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed through the CCPDT.
