About Dana’s Dog Care

Dana's Dog Care has been at this a long time. The site says it is "family owned since 1999, located in Manassas, Va", founded by Dana Childers and now co-owned with her son Timothy – "Timothy is Co Owner of "Dana's Dog Care LLC"."

The training

The class list is AKC-anchored: "Timothy and Dana conduct Dana's Dog Care AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Training and AKC CGC, CGCA, CGCU, CGC Trick Dog, CGC Therapy Dog Training Classes, as well as Basic Obedience and Puppy Socialization Training Classes." Classes run "outside in our dedicated grassed fenced in Training Area and inside during inclement weather in our beautiful indoor climate controlled Training Building", and the site publishes dated course blocks – a "Beginner Canine Good Citizen Class" and an "AKC CGC Urban Training Canine Good Citizen Class" – that you register for by text or email.

The property

This is a working 15-acre site rather than a storefront. Dana "purchased 15 acres in Prince William County in 2003, built the house, and completed the county process to acquire her Special Use Permit to operate a Dog Boarding Business", and "In 2005 the Prince William County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve" it. Timothy managed construction of two new county-approved buildings including "the new Dana's Dog Care Training Building", a project completed "in June 2025". Day guests use "a 1 acre fenced play area".

The background

The family has shown dogs for decades – they "have raised, trained and shown their own Champion Alaskan Malamutes since the early 90's" – and Dana "completed the Embark Canine Health Summit" in 2022.

What to ask

Ask about prices for boarding, daycare and classes, and which training method is used beyond the AKC curricula themselves.
