About Haus Juris German Shepherds

Haus Juris German Shepherds is a breeder first – "As a breeder of top German bloodlines we raise our puppies to be trusted and loyal family companions" – but its training program is a real one, with four class levels published in detail. The site describes itself as "a Full Service Kennel providing Boarding, Grooming and Training Services as well as top Quality German Shepherd Dogs."

The class ladder

"Puppy Class" runs one hour and "Starts at 12 weeks of age", covering "nipping, mouthing, housebreaking issues", early cues and "proper socialization during puppy playtime." "Basic Obedience" builds on it – not pulling on the leash, "the beginning foundations of "Stay"", a reliable recall, and "the basics of teaching a polite "meet and greet."" "Beyond Basics" prepares for the CGC: the site explains "The CGC (Canine Good Citizen) test is an important goal for any dog" because "Many hotels and apartment buildings require the CGC", and covers "Focus and Heeling" and "Extended stays to include out of sight." "Advanced Class" covers "topics in Agility, Rally Obedience, Schutzund, Tricks and more", with "Emphasis is strongly put on "fading the lure"".

Private lessons

Offered for anything the classes do not cover: "Any topic can be covered from precision-perfect heeling to behavioral modification", and "No matter the issue (aggression, leash-pulling, jumping, heel work, etc.), Haus Juris has your back." The stated advantage is pace – "we can go at your dog's pace and learning availability."

How they frame group work

"Haus Juris emphasizes the importance of foundations in order to set you up for success in the future. Group classes are important to teach your dog how to work with distractions." Clients are told to come prepared: "DO NOT feed your dog before class and make sure you have a 6 foot leash."
