About DoggSense Behavior & Training Co.

What they offer

DoggSense Behavior & Training Co. is run by Jamie Williams-Stewart, who describes herself as a dog behavior expert in southern Johnson County and is the founder and sole operator. Services include behavior consultations and assessments, in-home training sessions, virtual training, one-on-one training at the home base in Stilwell, and board and train for clients who meet certain criteria.

Behavior work

The home page covers dog reactivity, aggression toward people, and anxiety that can show up as noise phobias, compulsive behaviors, separation anxiety or destructive habits, as well as puppy training and basic manners. It also offers help laying the foundation for service dog skills. The services page notes that difficult problems like aggression take time and cannot be fixed with a board and train program. New clients start with an initial consultation.

How she trains

The training philosophy page says each case looks at the dog's history, health, relationships and environment to find the emotional drivers behind a behavior, and the site says she uses humane, evidence-based methods without fear or force.

Good to know

The about page says she is a certified trainer through the AKC and a member of the Pet Professional Guild and the Animal Behavior Management Alliance, with over two decades of experience across shelters, zoos and private homes. In-home training covers homes within about 20 minutes of Stilwell. Contact is through the form on its site.
