DOGTOWN
Overview
About DOGTOWN
DOGTOWN is at 178 Christopher Street in the West Village. It began as a dog walking, boarding and training company serving lower Manhattan in 2018, and the brick-and-mortar space came afterwards — which is why training is a real part of the offer here rather than an add-on.
Training
The stated method is positive reinforcement, and the published scope is broad: puppy training, separation anxiety, socialization, confidence building, leash reactivity, dog and people aggression, child socialization and preparing a dog for a new baby. Puppy classes focus on basic manners, socialization and the most basic cues; adult classes are run separately with their own focus. The line the site uses about its classes — teaching your puppy is easy, teaching you is hard — tells you where the work actually goes.
Daycare
The daycare is crate-free, with relief walks included in the price and fresh water throughout. Pricing steps up by duration: after nine and a half hours the twelve-hour rate applies, and after that an overnight.
Requirements
Dogs must be current on Bordetella, DHPP or D2APP, and rabies to join daycare. Accounts are set up online before a first visit.
