About Firefly K9

Firefly K9 Training and Services works out of a single address on U.S. Highway 70 SW in Hickory and describes its catchment as Burke County, Catawba County and the surrounding communities. It publishes a numbered service menu, which makes it unusually easy to see what is actually on offer, and it is the only business in this directory's Catawba Valley set that names leash reactivity as something it treats.

What you can book here

Six services are published. Basic Obedience is described as "sit, stay, come, heel – we lay the essential groundwork for a respectful, responsive dog," and is offered to puppies and adult dogs starting out. Advanced Training moves to "off-leash control, complex commands, and real-world distraction training for dogs that are ready to go further." Behavior Modification is the one that addresses "aggression, anxiety, leash reactivity, or other challenging behaviors," using what the business calls compassionate, evidence-based techniques and structured plans. Puppy Training starts at eight weeks and covers early socialization, bite inhibition, house manners and foundation skills. Board and Train keeps the dog on site for intensive daily sessions. Doggie daycare runs alongside the training.

How they describe their approach

The business states a balanced method plainly: "We use a fair and balanced approach tailored to each dog. By combining clear communication, rewards, structure, and appropriate corrections, we build confidence, reliability, and trust." It also commits to individual plans rather than a fixed curriculum, and to progress updates with take-home guidance.

Practical detail

Work is by appointment rather than to a class timetable, and the enquiry form asks for the dog's breed and age and which of the six services you are interested in, which suggests the program is chosen after a conversation rather than off the shelf. Ask about prices when you call.
