About Focused K9 LLC
Who runs it
The site footer signs the business "Drew Rupp | Wausau, WI" and the About page is written in the first person. He tells the origin story plainly: "Focused K9 began with a reactive dog named Titus. He was my first dog, brought home from a local rescue." After working with a trainer himself, he writes, "I have provided education and training for hundreds of dog owners, also assisting others to achieve dog sports titles."
How the training runs
This is private work, not group class work — "Many dogs do not thrive in the typical group setting, I aim to provide a 1 on 1 service." The home page describes the arc: "We start with one in-home session per week for 4–5 weeks to lay a strong foundation. As your dog progresses, we reduce the frequency—moving to every other week, then occasional check-ins as needed." He travels to the client: "I come to you! … Traveling up to an hour outside of the Wausau area."
What it is aimed at
The home page lists the behaviors it targets — barking, biting, pulling, "Selective Hearing", jumping on guests, and resource guarding. The site calls itself "The only reactivity specialist in Wausau, WI", and the About page connects competition work to case work: "This translates directly to the ability to provide control for dogs with issues of reactivity and aggression."
Method, in his words
He declines to pick a camp: "My training style can be summed up as ‘use what works’. There are unlimited ways to train a dog, and the important piece is finding the style that works well for you and your dog."
Programs and published prices
Two tracks are published. Board and Train, "blending behavioral modification with foundational obedience", is listed at $5000 total and includes "Two private in-home lessons after graduation to ensure success continues at home." In-home lessons are listed at $150 per lesson plus a travel fee beyond 30 miles of Wausau, and the services page notes "Typically clients require 5-8 total visits to alter behaviors." The home page also carries a $125 per lesson figure in the same block, so check the current page before quoting a number back. A waitlist is in force: "the current estimated wait is approximately 2 months."
