About PEAK K9 Daycare and training
What it is
Peak K-9 Daycare and Training LLC is a Schofield daycare that also teaches classes. Its stated mission is "to nurture the health, happiness, and well-being of every dog in our care" in "a safe, kennel-free environment where dogs can socialize, play, and learn through positive, compassionate training." Overnight boarding is not part of it: the site repeats "Boarding is not currently offered."
The classes
Three courses are published, each meeting once a week for an hour over seven weeks, each listed at $100 per dog. Basic Obedience "focuses on essential commands, leash manners, and clear communication between you and your dog." Advanced Obedience "builds on the basics. Dogs learn more complex commands, impulse control, and off-leash reliability." Therapy Prep is "Designed for dogs and handlers preparing to pursue therapy certification" and requires completion of both earlier courses. Groups are deliberately small — "Classes are small (3–5 dogs) to allow for personalized attention and support" — and the site says "More specialized courses coming soon."
Method and tools, stated up front
The training page does not soften it: "I require the use of slip leads for small dogs, and chain or prong collars for big, heavy-pulling dogs. I do not practice 'positive-only' training — I use balanced methods based on clear communication and respect." Homework is compulsory: "It's your responsibility to practice outside of class. Failure to do so may result in removal, as it's unfair to other participants to backtrack." A one-month gap between levels is required "to reinforce skills before moving to the next level", and classes are non-refundable after the first day.
The daycare day
The site walks through it: drop-off between 7:00 and 8:30 AM, then morning play, then "school time" — "about an hour of focused, structured activities that challenge the mind and build manners" and "the only portion of the day where dogs are tethered for guided training and enrichment" — then free play, a nap, and play again until pickup at 5:30 PM. Day packages are listed on the site, vaccination records are mandatory, and the owner notes "I am a more commitment-based daycare because there are no kennels on site, I do not take dogs just for one day." A small in-house storefront sells treats and chews.
A note on the reviews section
The testimonials block on the site is open to the public and several recent entries there are unrelated marketing spam rather than client feedback; read the star count on that page with that in mind.
