About Follow My Lead
Follow My Lead has been teaching New York City dog owners for more than twenty-five years from a West 74th Street address, and names the neighborhoods it covers: the Upper West Side and Lincoln Square first, then the Upper East Side, Tribeca and the West Village.
What is offered
Two formats, kept simple: group classes and private training, both aimed at puppies and adult dogs. Registration has its own page and the trainer publishes both a phone number and an email address rather than routing everything through a form.
The trainer
Phyllis Couvares is listed as CPDT-KA with a thirty-year career. The description the business gives of her strength is telling — keen observation and skillful handling, and an ability to teach owners how to get past the frustrations that stop them enjoying their dogs. A client quote the business publishes makes the same point from the other side: that she is as good with frazzled new puppy owners as she is with the puppies.
Method
Rather than claiming a single system, the practice states that experience has taught it there is no one way to teach every dog or cure every problem, and it offers a range of current approaches to a given training issue. Leash pulling in the city is the problem the front page leads with.
