About GoodBoy Dog Training
What they do
GoodBoy Dog Training comes to you. The business describes itself on its own home page as "an in-home dog training service committed to growing confidence and obedience in your furry friend," and its services page opens by saying "We understand that no two dogs are the same, so we offer several different in-home, one-on-one services to fit you and your best friend!"
Three individual programs are named on that services page:
– **Behavioral Modification Therapy**
– **Puppy Manners (up to 6 months)**
– **Aggression**
Alongside the in-home work the site carries a **Virtual Lessons** section in its main navigation, and the About page adds that "From group classes to individual training, we can support your dog in their obedience journey."
Method
The home page states the method plainly: "For lasting results, we use positive reinforcement, centered on ABA therapy techniques to make training an enjoyable experience for you and your dog." That ABA framing is not marketing shorthand here – it traces directly to the owner's professional background (below).
Who runs it
**Ben McGill, M.C.B., Owner.** Born in Australia, Ben moved to the United States young and studied Biology and Psychological Science at Western Kentucky University. His site records a career that began in the early 2000s at a humane society training dogs and working on feline behavior, then a wildlife sanctuary, then a spell as Animal Manager at Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo. He worked as an ABA therapist and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) supporting children on the autism spectrum and teenagers facing chemical dependency – the source of the ABA techniques the training is built on. The site says he "specializes in canine aggression cases and the training of four types of service dogs," holds the title of BCCB through the Board of Canine Behaviorists, is an AKC evaluator and instructor qualified across the Canine Good Citizen, S.T.A.R. Puppy, CGC Advanced (Community Canine), Urban CGC, AKC Video Home Manners and AKC Trick Dog programs, and is a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. He is also the author of a book, *The A Word*. The site adds that he currently "trains state and government employees in proper techniques and strategies for engaging with dogs and their handlers in real-world scenarios."
**Becky McGill, Owner.** Also a Western Kentucky University biology graduate, Becky is a certified AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy instructor and, per the site, handles business administration, scheduling and customer relations as well as training.
Hours and terms
Training hours are listed as 8 am to 7 pm, with office hours 4 pm to 7 pm. The site notes that all lesson purchases are non-refundable with case-by-case exceptions, and that bulk lesson purchases are a discount mechanism rather than a guarantee of completion: "Individual dogs differ in the amount of training and lessons needed."
