Gundog training

Grayquill Kennel in Crossville offers all levels of gundog training to all retriever breeds, alongside breeding and importing British Labradors. Each dog is evaluated to set its training method, with e-collar and non e-collar options. Programs are K-9 Basic Obedience (an 8 week course covering on and off lead obedience, remote sit, recall, place and kennel manners), Started Gundog (six months minimum, adding force fetch, singles and doubles, and gunfire, decoy and bird introductions) and Finished Gundog (twelve months minimum, with multiple marks, handling and cold blinds on land and water). The kennel also runs dogs in AKC and UKC hunt tests.

Trainer and grounds

Owner and head trainer Colton Thompson moved into full-time retriever training after five years as a civil engineer. The facility has a 1,600 sqft building on a dedicated 8 acre property with a 1.5 acre tech pond. Inquiries go through the contact page of its website.
