About Halo K9 Behavior Consultation

Science-based behavior help

Halo K9 Behavior Consultation in Xenia leans hard into a credentialed, science-first approach, describing "science-based, compassionate methods" using "positive reinforcement techniques" and "low-stress handling." The site claims a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (CAAB) credential, which is one of the more rigorous qualifications in the field and signals a focus on genuine behavior cases rather than basic obedience alone.

A farm setting for anxious dogs

The operation is built around a 5-acre farm property offering kennel-free overnight stays in kennels and "tiny homes," plus doggie daycare and structured enrichment. There's a stated emphasis on anxious and special-needs pets, daily behavior reports, and individualized care plans. The site doesn't name the owner/behaviorist or state years in business, so those specifics would need a direct ask. Still, the CAAB claim plus the low-stress, farm-stay model make this a notable option for owners of fearful or reactive dogs who want a calmer environment than a traditional kennel.

What they can help with

Behavior modification for unwanted or problem habits.

The team is incredible and you can really tell they put the dogs first. Whether you’re hoping to adopt or need to find a boarding facility, HALO K9 is it.

No communication. I filled out an application to adopt Rocko on 12/30, called 1/13 and left a voicemail, I've left a 2nd voicemail, and sent an email since then. Nobody answers, returns calls, or emails. Since losing my Shepherd just over a year ago this was the first time I've tried to adopt another. This has been so disheartening that I'm not sure I want to even try and get my hopes up like that again. Even if there was a reason that I wouldn't be able to adopt Rocko, I would rather know than given the silent treatment.

We have been taking our pups to HALO for many years! Regina and her staff have always been great! Regina is a professional animal behaviorist and she is very knowledgable, she doesn't shy away from difficult pets, she will work with them to determine the best type of care they need while they are boarding. They take care of their borders as if they were their own, going above and beyond in caring and feeding them and most importantly loving on them. The boarding facilities are top notch, spacious and the 5 fenced acres for exercising are fantastic.

This place is legitimate. Halo is a good organization. They have twin beds for the dogs, it looks like they are in a home.

I am always leary of different rescues, hoping they are doing the right thing for the animals they serve. This place does. Many years ago they helped me with a dog I rescued. They never asked for anything in return, they just wanted what was best for the dog. I was able to successfully integrate that mean, grumpy Chihuahua into our home, thanks to their help (Regina, I think! From Halo). I did donate food to them, and they seemed grateful.

In an hour the lady showed me how to safely walk the dog, and how to deal with unwanted behaviors in a nice, non-violent way.

Update to years later, and I was sitting at the Humane Society for assistance with a stray kitten. One of the owners of Halo walked in and donated a few bags of food to the Humane Society. I was so touched by this. They truly are a good organization. Good for you Halo!!!

HALO is the most wonderful rescue, saving so many incredible dogs. They also have a great daycare where you pup will get so spoilt and get plenty of attention and exercise. Great owner.
