About Happy Dog Academy LLC
Happy Dog Academy runs a level system rather than a menu of one-off services, and everybody is placed into it the same way: "Before enrolling in any program, all dogs must undergo an assessment to determine the appropriate training level for their individual needs."
The ladder
"After the initial assessment, your dog will be placed into the most suitable training program, ranging from Puppy Essentials to our advanced Obedience Level 3." Each rung has its own description. The puppy course "covers everything from crate training to basic commands. Ideal for laying the foundation for a well-behaved, confident, and happy pup." Level 1 is the same ground "For dogs 6 months and older". Level 2 adds "advanced skills that include loose-leash walking, impulse control, and agility work." Level 3 is the off-leash tier: "Master off-leash work, advanced socialization, and more. This level is designed for dogs that have completed Levels 1 & 2, focusing on reliability, consistency, and nuanced commands, including e-collar training."
Two ways to do it
The same curriculum is sold in two delivery formats, and you choose: private lessons, described as "personalized, one-on-one instruction. Ideal for owners committed to hands-on involvement in their pet's development." – or board and train, "Let our experts handle the training while your dog enjoys a comfortable stay with us. A hassle-free solution for busy owners seeking effective, professional training."
The setting
It is a house, not a commercial kennel, and the site says so: "Easily accessible and centrally located, our home-based training facility provides a warm, inviting space for both you and your four-legged friend to learn and grow". The address is given as "13 E Lamington Road, Hampton, Virginia, 23669." and hours as "From 9:30 AM To 6:30 PM."
After the program
The pitch leans on what happens next rather than on the weeks themselves: "our goal isn't just to train your dog-it's to become a lifelong partner in your pet's well-being" and "Your journey with us doesn't end when the training does".
What to ask
Ask about the trainer's background, certifications and prices. A client review on the page names Gabriel as the trainer; ask who owns the business and who would train your dog, particularly for a board and train.
