About Happy Social Dog
Relationship-based training in Bend
Happy Social Dog is a relationship-based dog training practice in southeast Bend, owned by April Sullivan. It treats every dog as an individual and moves beyond simple commands toward a connection built on partnership, trust and honor, with an emphasis on pro-social behavior and engagement tailored to each dog's physical and mental needs.
Programs
Puppy Camp is a structured foundational program for early social development. Day Training offers intensive daily sessions on goals such as recall, e-collar work, confidence and social skills. Private Coaching provides one-on-one consultations for specific behavior challenges, and Group Support classes give a safe framework to practice pro-social behavior. A paid one-hour phone consultation is also available.
Background
April began with puppy socialization as a hobby in 2018 and has since worked with hundreds of puppies, adult dogs and their families. She spent years volunteering with dog rescues, managing play groups and daily care, holds a practitioner's diploma in Applied Zoopharmacognosy for Canines and attends advanced training workshops. Her dog Smidge helps raise and socialize the puppies.
