Instinct Canine Holistic Behavioral Training serves Wilton, Norwalk and Fairfield County with in-home holistic behavioral consultations. Trainer Ben Gagne is a Certified Canine Training and Behavior Specialist (CCTBS) with over 10 years of hands-on experience, described as veterinarian recommended. He specializes in reactivity and in hyperactive mixed, bully, working, terrier, hound and hunting breeds.

Method

The approach is balanced, positive reinforcement based training that pairs structure in and outside the home with exercise regimens, on the view that most problems stem from a lack of mental and physical stimulation. Its philosophy is loosely based on Jean Donaldson's book "Culture Clash." Owners learn to eliminate behaviors such as leash pulling, aggression, resource guarding, excessive barking and anxiety, and dogs learn off-leash obedience under distraction. Obedience, service and protection dog training are also available.

Pricing

An initial session of 1 to 2 hour is $150, 5 day train sessions are $625, puppy training is $100 per session or $200 for 5 weekly sessions, and exercise sessions start at $30.
