About Joyful Dog Training

Who they are

Joyful Dog Training is based in Dickson and is run by its owner and head trainer, Miranda Williams. She introduces herself on the site as "the owner and head trainer at Joyful Dog Training in Dickson, Tennessee" and describes herself as a second-generation trainer with "over two decades of hands-on experience working with dogs and their people". The site calls her "a certified professional dog trainer"; ask which body certified her.

Where they work

Training happens at a fixed facility. The site describes "Our 3,000 sq. ft. indoor training space right off Highway 46, paired with 1.5 acres of fully fenced outdoor freedom" and lists Dickson, Burns, Charlotte, White Bluff, Bon Aqua and McEwen as the areas served.

What they offer

Four tracks are published: private one-on-one sessions, puppy training, board and train, and a service-dog track. The board and train is described as "Intensive, immersive training with daily structure, enrichment, and handler transfer sessions", and the service-dog line reads "Foundational and advanced training for dogs pursuing public access and task work." The site says the team works with everything "From spirited puppies to complex behavior cases".

How they train

The published philosophy is relationship-first rather than obedience-first: "We prioritize engagement, trust, and clear communication between dogs and their people." Owner education is built into the programs, and four of the trainer's own dogs are described as working demonstration dogs used for socialization and for dogs that are reactive toward people.
