About K-9 Academy

What they offer

The K-9 Academy is located in Kitsap County and trains with science-based, positive reinforcement methods. Its five-week basic obedience program brings the instructor to the owner's residence once a week to work on sit, stay, down, heel, place, out, recall and leash walking, and a separate weekly program for dogs two years or older covers manners, on and off leash control and working around distractions.

Board and train

Three- and four-week board and train programs keep the dog in a structured environment and include round-trip transportation within 60 miles.

Specialized courses

Courses on request cover advanced obedience, scent detection, trailing and tracking, agility course training and service animal air travel training, along with pet CPR and first aid.

About the trainer

Owner Ray Blackwell has over 33 years of law enforcement experience, including K-9 operations.
