About K9WAGIN
What they offer
K9WAGIN is a private dog training business in Dayton started by Kerri Lamorey in 2000, after years of training horses and dogs and early work with hundreds of rescue dogs. Every service starts with an in-home evaluation, because she wants to see the dog in its own environment and meet everyone who handles it; the family then agrees on a realistic training plan and adjustments to the home.
Programs
After the evaluation, training continues as weekly or twice-weekly private lessons, where she teaches the dog a skill, shows the owner how to work it and sets homework. Private lessons can happen anywhere a behavior needs to change. In-board training brings the dog to her home for a focused stay, typically 7 to 14 days, followed by weekly visits to teach the owner. Puppy training ideally begins before the puppy arrives, with the goal of obedience skills by six months, and she also helps families find a dog.
How she trains
She describes a balanced approach of simple dominance and positive reinforcement, and teaches owners to read their dog's body language.
