Malibu Pet Hotel is a Freeport facility on Guy Lombardo Avenue that has been in pet care for more than forty-one years, and it puts training on equal footing with boarding in its own header: 'BOARDING | TRAINING | GROOMING'.

The training program, as published

The site says Malibu offers all levels of obedience training and then names the specific problems it takes: housebreaking, nipping, jumping, pulling, off-leash training and chewing. Off-leash work being on that list matters – it is a harder outcome than the manners list around it, and few boarding facilities in this metro publish it.

A deliberate position on group play

The most distinctive published choice has nothing to do with training and everything to do with how the dog spends its day. Malibu does not mix dogs for playtime, and it argues the case: research and experience, it says, show dogs benefit more from one-on-one attention with humans than from group interaction with unfamiliar dogs, and it names freedom from unprovoked attacks as part of the reasoning. What it offers instead is individualized play and enrichment sessions, calm structured routines and a low-stress environment, framed for shy, high-energy, senior or human-oriented dogs.

The accommodation

Two levels are published. The primary level is a kennel with large individual runs. Above that are two real apartments where the dog stays with live-in staff.

Visiting

Tours are by appointment and the rules are strict and published: no dogs in the building without office clearance, and no visits on a day the dog has been to a vet or a groomer.
