About MeierK9

Working-dog training out of Lena

MeierK9 is not a pet-manners business with a working-dog sideline; the balance runs the other way. The site says it offers "obedience and e-collar training, trial preparation, group training, handler/dog relationship, environmental work, grip building, and much more," and states that "our training is not just directed towards pet dogs and puppies, but also to military and police dogs, anti-poaching k9's, and bird dogs." The address given is 7528 IL-73, Lena, with appointments by arrangement.

The trainer, as the site describes him

The about page names Nick Meier as owner and says he started his professional training career in 2016, with acquired skills dating back to age fourteen – beginning as kennel staff in a vet office, then training dogs for adoption at a pit bull rescue organization. It says he moved to Texas and worked on ranches before joining the Marine Corps, later graduating from the K9 training school Tarheel, and has since been developing his own training program. The page states he has offered his services across the USA and Canada as well as in Africa and previously in China.

Decoy work, sport and conservation

A separate strand of the business is decoy and consulting work: the site lists private lessons, consulting services, K9 selection, decoy workshops and K9 scenario training, and frames decoying as being "about the safety of the K9 and building them up to be the strongest they can be for our clients" rather than about video. The site also describes competing with an English Springer Spaniel in the ESSFT, field work with British Labs on pheasant and geese, and anti-poaching efforts in Africa, and says the facility runs on a complete solar panel system.
