About Midnight Retrievers, LLC

Obedience and retriever training in Shreveport

Midnight Retrievers is a dog training and boarding kennel at 285 Lydia Avenue in Shreveport, owned by Jeff and Shelly Mathews. Their story starts in 2003, when a new lab puppy that didn't know sit, stay or heel led them into obedience training. The owners are credited with over 20 years of experience, and the kennel can take up to 20 dogs at a time.

Programs and prices

Obedience training is a two-month stay starting at $700 per month: dogs learn here, heel and sit, understand commands on a leash and an E-Collar, and respond independently in the second month. Retriever training also starts at $700 per month and prepares hunting dogs for gunfire, marking ducks and retrieving downed birds, with AKC Hunt Test titles such as Junior, Senior and Master Hunter as a possible next step. The Retriever Head Start Program takes four-month-old puppies for two-week stays at $400 each, introducing light obedience and live pigeons until the pup is ready for full-time training. A mobile obedience program brings five one-hour sessions to your home for $800 total. Boarding costs $35 per day.
