What they offer

Mind Over Muzzle is a positive-reinforcement dog trainer serving Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon, with a focus on helping owners communicate with their dogs and build a strong bond through play-based training. The trainer is a partner of the Absolute Dogs games-based program.

Classes and lessons

The Adult Basic Manners group class is for dogs nine months and older, new to training or needing a refresh, covering cues such as sit and come, leash handling and walking at heel; group classes are not for unfriendly or reactive dogs. The six-week S.T.A.R. Puppy course takes puppies up to nine months once they have had two rounds of vaccines and works toward the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy award. Private tutoring is offered at several levels, and Canine Good Citizen evaluations are available.

Not sure where to start

Consultations of 30 to 90 minutes assess a dog's issues and leave the owner with techniques and games to practice, and a shorter assessment at a park shows whether a dog is ready for a group class. Adopted dogs receive a discount on classes and consultations.
