About Nordic Myst Dog Training

Nordic Myst Dog Training is Terry Brown's dog-sport school, based in Endwell and teaching across the Binghamton area, with tracking and scent work also offered in the Syracuse area.

Agility

Agility is the core of the school. Classes are taught indoors year-round on Mondays and Tuesdays at 63 Barlow Road in Kirkwood, with both afternoon and evening slots, and the school states that all levels are welcome from foundation to advanced. Private agility lessons can also be scheduled.

Scent work and tracking

Scent work and tracking are taught regularly in both the Binghamton and Syracuse areas, as private lessons, group lessons or seminars, and cover scent work, field tracking and urban tracking. Days and locations depend on demand rather than running to a fixed timetable.

Obedience, rally and behavior

Basic behavior instruction is offered using positive methods, and the school separately coaches competition obedience and rally exercises. Both group and private lessons are available, and behavior classes and consultations are offered on request.

Show and gos

The school runs regular timed show-and-go practice sessions, which give a competing team ring time outside a trial. Scheduled Tuesday ring times run between 3:00 and 4:30pm, with obedience on the first and third Tuesdays of the month and scent work on the second and fourth, and Sunday obedience and rally show-and-gos are scheduled through the year. Sign-up is by form rather than at the door.

Who runs it

Terry Brown began in the sport of agility in 1991 by attending workshops and competing in trials, started offering lessons to individuals and groups in 1992, and has been instructing continuously since. The school describes his tracking experience across a wide variety of breeds, both as a handler and as an instructor.
