About Adelshire Training

Adelshire Training is a puppy and dog obedience school on North Page Avenue in Endicott. Its stated goal is to promote early socialization, training and puppy temperament testing, on the argument that early and proper training guides an owner and puppy through the critical developmental stages.

The class ladder

The school publishes its classes as an ordered progression rather than a menu. The Beginner class covers the developmental stages of a puppy's early life and how to care for and train through each of them. The Advanced class is the second stage, focused on the dog's attention, correct form for both handler and dog, and sharper, more precise obedience. Novice / Open is described as the most advanced class offered, building on the advanced-class skills and incorporating AKC exercises for Novice and Open obedience.

Titles and testing

A Canine Good Citizen class sits alongside the ladder. The school describes the CGC as an owner's first AKC obedience title and as a prelude to further obedience titles and to therapy dog certification. A separate therapy dog class and evaluation is listed among the classes.

Private training

For owners who cannot make group classes, or who want extra help with basic obedience and good manners, the school offers one-on-one private sessions either in the client's home or at the training facility.

Longevity

The site's welcome is signed by Maria, who writes that it has been her privilege since 1992 to work beside owners as they developed a deeper relationship with their dogs, and describes the work as helping owners communicate with and understand their dog. Pet sitting is listed on the site as a separate service from the training classes.
