I highly recommend Northstar Canine Training and Tasana. I've used the board and train program for my dog and my son's dog. During the home visit, Tasana clearly explained what would be covered during training. When I would pick the dogs up for their weekends at home, she would take the time to show me what they had been working on during the week. Both dogs were always excited to go back for the week. At the end of training, I could see the growth and maturity.

I've also boarded my dog. My dog gets so excited each time he goes there. He knows he is going to his home away from home.

We sent our Doberman puppy (5 mo) and 4-year-old Hungarian Vizsla here together. To sauna runs it a little longer than most places, at around 5 weeks as opposed to 2:00. However, we believed that that would be far less stressful on the dogs to learn things at a more natural pace, as opposed to a forced pace. They came back with good behavior. Obviously things that we need to continue to work on with them, but the nice thing is that they come back is actual dogs that are better behaved rather than rigid military assets, haha.

We cannot recommend Tasana enough! From the moment we met her, it was clear that she has a true gift for connecting with dogs. Our pup, Pickles, absolutely thrived during his training sessions! Every week, Pickles would bound into the training space with excitement, eager to learn and play.
Thanks to Tasana, our dog improved his behavior and confidence in ways we never thought possible. We are so grateful for the positive impact she had on Pickles's happiness. If you're looking for a dedicated and talented trainer, look no further!

I had a very concerning experience with Northstar Canine when I did the ‘board and train’ program this summer (2024). My dog was in the program for 12 days before I picked her up to be spayed. When I picked her up, she was trembling and continued trembling while in the car. She was weighed right before and after the boarding, and she lost 15% of her body weight within the 12 days. She was covered in dandruff and had patches of hair coming off of her. She smelled as though she had excrement or something rotten on her. I needed to fill her large water bowl twice since she was parched.

Regarding the training itself, I was never provided with any tangible reports. The trainer was also unable to give concrete time amounts that were being spent training the dog. When I asked about whether benchmarks were being met, the response was “I didn’t really push past like the setting the marker words, and starting the basic commands with her and you know that kind of stuff and than moving onto the next step just because I knew that we would have a lag because of the surgery” (text message).

Another concern was my initial pup pickup time was asked to be moved as the trainer was out of town. When asked about the amount of time that the dog had been in the crate during the out-of-town time period, the trainer was unsure and unable to give an answer.

We have worked with Northstar canine training for over a year. Tansa came to our home to meet the dogs. Our Rhodesian Ridgeback was just a puppy, so we sent him to Tansa for training. She quickly realized that without our Golden Doodle he shut down. We sent them together after that. We now have a Rhodesian puppy, sending her to Tansa was a no Brainer. Our dogs love her! She is the best of the best!
We also board our dogs with her. They love her and her family. They always seem to know when the are going to see her and are excited and happy!

Five stars are not enough!
