On Command Canine is the Phelps end of the hub and one of only three schools here that publish a residential program with a price on it. The site's own title line reads "Dog Training | Phelps, NY", and the practice describes itself as serving Wayne County and the surrounding area.

Private lessons

Private lessons are one-on-one, about an hour long, and can run in the home or in public settings once the dog is ready. New clients buy a block of five lessons for $600. The site describes them as suited to basic obedience, manners and minor behavioral issues, and notes that off-leash training can be covered in private lessons with the appropriate tools. Past clients who have finished a package or a board-and-train can book a maintenance lesson at $120 to touch up what the dog already knows.

Board and train

The board-and-train program runs three to four weeks and is priced at $2,550 to $3,400, with the equipment the trainer recommends included in the package. The site describes it as the fastest and most reliable option and specifically names it as a fit for dogs with more severe issues such as reactivity and aggression. Dogs get several sessions a day both at the trainer's home and out in public. The stated benefits are speed, the removal of the time burden from the owner, and the way a new environment acts as a reset on old habits.

Boarding and daycare

Boarding is offered only to past and present training clients, at $45 a night or $60 for two dogs, and the site frames it as a way to keep training intact – walks, hikes, some agility equipment and nose games with an experienced handler. Who runs it

Shauna Zerbe is named as owner and head trainer. The credentials listed on the About page are Certified Professional Trainer, CGC, CGCA, CGCU, AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, AKC Trick Dog certified and canine first aid certified. Her stated belief is that what an owner puts in is what they get out: whichever program is chosen, the owner is expected to do the work. She describes customizing a plan per dog and using different tools and methodologies, with praise and positive motivation as the foundation of all of it.
